AI and mobile Internet have revolutionized the computing paradigm in multiple domains, such as economics, finance, e-commerce, etc. The 2024 International Conference on AI and Multimodal Services (AIMS 2024) is the emerging theme-topic conference for the development, publication, discovery, orchestration, invocation, testing, delivery, certification, and management of artificial intelligence (AI) and multimodal applications and services. Part of the SCF 2018, AIMS 2018 was successfully held on June 25 - June 30, 2018, Seattle, USA. Part of the SCF 2019, AIMS 2019 was successfully held on June 25 - 30, 2019, San Diego, USA. Part of the SCF 2020, AIMS 2020 and AIMS 2021 was successfully held over the Internet. AIMS 2022 was successfully held on December 10 - 14, 2022, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. AIMS 2023 was successfully held on September 23 - 26, 2023, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. In 2024, we will celebrate our 2024 version of gathering, to strive to advance the largest international professional forum on AI and multimodal services.

AIMS 2024 is a member of Services Conference Federation (SCF). SCF 2024 will have the following 10 collocated service-oriented sister conferences: 2024 International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2024), 2024 International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD 2024), 2024 International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2024), 2024 International Conference on Big Data (BigData 2024), 2024 International Conference on AI and Multimodal Services (AIMS 2024), and 2024 International Conference on Metaverse (METAVERSE 2024), 2024 International Conference on Internet of Things (ICIOT 2024), 2024 International conference on Cognitive Computing (ICCC 2024), 2024 International Conference on Edge Computing (EDGE 2024), and 2024 International Conference on Blockchain (ICBC 2024).

As the founding member of the Services Conference Federation (SCF), the first International Conference on Web Services (ICWS) was held in June 2003 in Las Vegas, USA. Meanwhile, the First International Conference on Web Services - Europe 2003 (ICWS-Europe 2003) was held in Germany in October 2003. ICWS-Europe'03 is an extended event of the 2003 International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2003) in Europe. In 2004, ICWS-Europe was changed to the European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS), which was held at Erfurt, Germany.

Sponsored by Services Society and Springer, SCF 2018 and SCF 2019 was held successfully in Seattle and San Diego, USA. SCF 2020 and SCF 2021 was held successfully online and in Shenzhen, China. SCF 2022 was successfully held on December 10 - 14, 2022, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. SCF 2023 was successfully held on September 23 - 26, 2023, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. To celebrate its 21-year-old birthday, SCF 2024 will be held on November 16 - 19, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Reasons for the Change

The renaming of the International Conference on AI and Mobile Services to the International Conference on AI and Multimodal Services reflects the evolving landscape of technology and services. The term "multimodal" encompasses a broader range of applications and services beyond just mobile, including various interaction modes such as voice, text, video, and other forms of digital communication, as well as various interaction channels such as mobile, Web, and API.

This change signifies our commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation and addressing the comprehensive needs of the modern digital ecosystem. By adopting a more inclusive title, we aim to attract a wider audience and foster interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing the impact and relevance of the conference.

The Proceedings of AIMS 2024 will be published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) by Springer International Publishing AG. Currently the Abstracting and Indexing services covered by Springer’s data feeds for LNCS proceedings include Engineering Index EI (Compendex and Inspec databases), DBLP, Google Scholar, IO-Port, MathSciNet, Scopus, and ZBlMath. The Best Paper Awards will be sponsored by Springer, which is a leading global scientific, technical and medical portfolio, providing researchers in academia, scientific institutions and corporate R&D departments with quality content through innovative information, products and services.

Extended versions of selected papers will be invited for special issues in the Services Transactions on Internet of Things (STIOT), Services Transactions on Big Data (STBD), Services Transactions on Services Computing (STSC), Services Transactions on Cloud Computing (STCC), International Journal of Web Services Research (IJWSR), and International Journal of Business Process Integration and Management (IJBPIM). IJBPIM is indexed by Scopus and IJWSR is indexed by SCI and EI [Link].

AI and Multimodal Services have been driving Internet innovations and transforming traditional businesses. AIMS 2024 covers the following key areas:

• Generative AI Models: Development and application of generative models such as GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), VAEs (Variational Autoencoders), and transformer-based models for creating synthetic data, images, text, and more.

• Creative AI: Leveraging generative AI for creative processes in art, music, and content generation, pushing the boundaries of creativity through machine learning.

• Automated Content Generation: Utilizing AI to generate text, images, videos, and other media content automatically, enhancing productivity and enabling new forms of content creation.

• AI-Driven Personalization: Implementing generative AI to create personalized experiences for users in various applications, including marketing, entertainment, and education.

• Ethical and Responsible AI: Addressing the ethical implications of generative AI, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI-generated content and applications.

• Multimodal Interaction and User Interfaces: Focuses on the integration of various interaction modes, such as voice, text, video, and gestures, to create seamless user experiences. It also explores advanced interfaces, including augmented and virtual reality.

• Multimodal Machine Learning: Investigates techniques for combining different data modalities for improved decision-making and developing deep learning models tailored for multimodal applications.

• Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Multimodal Services: Enhances conversational agents that understand and respond to multiple forms of input, and improves machine translation with integrated text, speech, and visual data.

• Multimodal Content Creation and Management: Develops platforms for creating and managing content across different media types, and enhances user engagement through personalized and adaptive multimedia content.

• Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in Multimodal Systems: Crafts adaptive interfaces that respond to user preferences and behaviors, and evaluates the effectiveness and ease of use of multimodal applications.

• Multimodal Data Integration and Analysis: Techniques for processing and analyzing multimodal data streams in real time and innovative methods for visualizing complex multimodal datasets.

• Security and Privacy in Multimodal Services: Develops secure communication methods for multimodal data and ensures user privacy while handling diverse data types.

• Applications of Multimodal Services: Utilizes multimodal data for monitoring, diagnostics, and treatment in healthcare, creates interactive and immersive learning environments in education, enhances gaming and virtual worlds in entertainment, and implements multimodal interactions in smart homes and cities.

• Emerging Trends in Multimodal Services: Explores advancements in AI technologies tailored for multimodal applications, new developments in sensors and hardware that support multimodal interactions, and the potential and challenges of multimodal services in various domains.

• Multimodal Service Platforms and Frameworks: Builds robust architectures for delivering multimodal services, develops middleware and APIs to support multimodal service integration, and leverages cloud and edge computing for scalable multimodal applications.

• Evaluation and Benchmarking of Multimodal Systems: Establishes metrics for evaluating the performance of multimodal systems, conducts studies to compare different multimodal interaction techniques, and engages in user studies to assess the usability and impact of multimodal applications.

All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 program committee members. Accepted and presented papers from all AIMS tracks will appear in the conference proceedings. Submitted Research Track and Application Track manuscripts will be limited to 15 (LNCS Proceedings style) pages and REQUIRED to be formatted using the LNCS Proceedings template ( WORD , Latex ). Submitted Short Paper track manuscripts will be limited to 8 (LNCS Proceedings style) pages. The authors can extend a maximum of 2 pages for each paper but will have to pay extra fees for each extra page. Unformatted papers and papers beyond the maximum page limit may not be reviewed. Electronic submission of manuscripts (in PDF or Word format) is required. Detailed instructions for electronic paper preparation and submission, panel proposals, tutorial proposals, workshop proposals, and review process can be found at conference site.

The Proceedings of AIMS 2024 will be published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) by Springer International Publishing AG. For all 10 collocated conferences of SCF 2024, the content of this proceedings volume will be made freely accessible to anyone in the Springer’s digital library after four years upon publication.

At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register to the conference and present the paper. One Best Paper award and one Best Student Paper award will be granted at AIMS 2024. The Best Paper Awards will be sponsored by Services Society and Springer, which is a leading global scientific, technical and medical portfolio, providing researchers in academia, scientific institutions and corporate R&D departments with quality content through innovative information, products and services. The first author of the best student paper must be a full-time student.

Manuscripts submitted to the Research Track focusing on applications or solutions may be recommended to the Application Track or other tracks for further consideration if the session slots are available.
