Call for Collaboration on Services Education 2009
Services University
Modern economy relies more heavily on service sector than traditional manufacturing and extraction sectors. A work force with broader and also deeper knowledge and skills is needed to meet this trend and to solve challenging issues. Industrials, universities and government agencies need to work together to response to the demands.
Services University (SU) is a unique excellence education center bringing together educators and practitioners to work on every aspect of services computing, both theoretical foundations as well as applied technologies. It has successfully offered Summer School and Fall School on 2007 and 2008 at ICWS/SCC/Services Congress and some online free courses.
Built upon the success of the offerings and the ongoing IEEE/ACM Services Computing curriculum initiative, SU would like to make a call for collaboration on services education (SE-SU) such as developing course materials that conform to the recent Services Computing Curriculum recommendations, summer school, Fall School and Winter School, and regular course delivery. SU is accepting proposal year round from any professional and training institution who plans to offer services education.
All proposals will be reviewed on monthly basis by the technical committee from Services Society. SU will provide its evaluation, suggestions and course materials if needed. Services university logo will then be authorized in your web site and in your certification. Your proposal and collaboration will be listed in the SU web site in which you can be actively connected to the community, get involved in any educational and other professional events and most importantly, get your voice to be heard. Ultimately, SE-SU will be one of the key blocks of the services computing ecosystem.
